Chauncey F. Lufkin III is the Founder and Principal of The Chauncey F. Lufkin III Foundation, which he launched in 2006.

In addition to his foundation, Mr. Lufkin is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Lufkin Advisors, a professional investment management office, and the founder and principle of a family office, which makes targeted investments to bolster his philanthropic mission.

Overall, Mr. Lufkin has over 30 years of investment management experience. Lufkin Advisors was founded in 2004, and is headquartered in Florida with offices in California. His firm is a recognized leader in the management of fixed income alternative investments.

Prior to founding his own firm, Mr. Lufkin spent seven years with Franklin Templeton Investments floating rate debt group, where he was responsible for the growth and development of three retail funds and four institutional products reaching $3.8 billion in assets under management.

His previous associations include Manufacturers Hanover Trust Company (now JPMorgan Chase) where he specialized in structuring and negotiating leveraged transactions, and Security Pacific National Bank (now Bank of America), where he structured and syndicated loans.

Mr. Lufkin earned his Bachelor of Arts in History from St. Lawrence University.

He resides in Palm Beach County, Florida.

Cara Familet is the Foundation Director of the Chauncey F. Lufkin III Foundation.  Appointed in early 2016, Cara manages the foundation’s relations with the organizations it supports and plays a critical role in sourcing and assessing potential donee partners on the basis of need and performance metrics.  She also oversees the foundation’s public relations, media coverage and event sponsorships. Additionally, Cara serves as the initial investment screening advisor for Mr. Lufkin's family office.

Prior to philanthropy, Cara enjoyed an expansive career as a lawyer, producer, digital media executive, and alternative investment consultant.  She began her career as an attorney/diplomat for the Pentagon, the European Union Delegation to the United Nations in New York, the European Commission’s Directorate General of Development in Brussels and the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris.  Cara also practiced law at a highly respected civil litigation firm on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.

As a Producer for Charlie Rose, Cara was responsible for all breaking news including politics, economics, business, finance, and culture related segments. Her segments lead off the broadcast and required her to work hand in glove with Mr. Rose throughout each day.  After producing Charlie Rose, Cara then lead a dynamic team for Bloomberg TV, where she executive produced interactive and on-demand applications and was honored with several awards.

Following her career in media.  Cara had a thriving consulting practice, advising private equity, hedge funds and marine-oriented ventures in a business development capacity. Among those ventures, was Hawkes Ocean Technologies, the creators of DeepFlight personal submersibles.

Cara is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and received her law degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  She is a Member of the Bar of the State of New York.  Cara supports several organizations, serving as an informal private sector advisor to multiple branches of the United Nations and as a development advisor to the Fabien Cousteau Ocean Learning Center.  She resides in Manhattan with her husband, Jeff and her rescue dog, Charlie.
